BURDWAN, also known as Bardhaman, (23.16° North and 87.59° East) located 95 km from Kolkata on the north bank of the river Damodar, is the district headquarters. Reference to Bardhaman is found in the Jain scriptures. During the Mughal rule it was known as Sharifabad.
Burdwan, well connected by rail and road to the rest of the country, has a glorious place on the educational map of the state. Burdwan is the address of a university, one medical college, three general degree colleges, one engineering institute, one polytechnic, ITI, some professional degree institutes, one nursing college and a large number of schools.


Burdwan Municipal High School is located at the heart of Burdwan.

SCHOOL REMAINS CLOSE ON 02.05.2018

The school remains closed on 02.5.18 according to the circular of the government of West Bengal. It reopens on 03.5.18 as usual at 10-35 am. The practical exam of class XI will be held on 03.5.18 as per notice issued earlier. On 04.5.18 the Formative exam of classes IXand X will also be held, and for that reason, class teaching of classes V to VIII shall not be held on that day.
